I chose this topic for my final project because I personally relate to struggling with finding the time to cook and meal plan for my picky toddler. Being active on the Facebook mom groups, I wanted to solve this problem by creating a parent community tool for family-friendly recipes.
Based on my learnings from user interviews, I knew I wanted to add specific features to my app. I wanted to do a pinterest-style layout for the search recipe page to make it more visual and less text based. I decided to push the community focus even further with profile pictures of neighbors along with their recipe, as well as a direct message feature where you can message any reviewer directly.
A message chat board is available to post messages like, "I want to bake sons birthday cake this year, does anyone have an easy recipe?"
I chose to show recipes with nutritional information that have been “tested” and rated by other families, making sure that parents and picky eaters can eat the same meal at the same time.
The neighbor-messaging tool can also be used for “can I borrow a cup of sugar?” type of requests when parents often forget all their ingredients on their grocery list.
